Madison High School Marching Band Booster Minutes

Session #4 8/11/09

 

Officers Present: Interim Pres.& Tres.:  Sherry Deckrow, Interim V.P. & Sec.:  Dominica Marchese

Members at large: C. Huff, Kathryn Boone, B. Latham, N. Beasley, B. Green

 

Meeting called to order at 1800.

 

Old Business:

 

Tres. Report: Monies send for registration for 2 competition fees.

General Fund: $580.

 

New Business:

 

  • Sherry reported after meeting with the Pres. Of the Athletic Booster, Cynthia that we will be able to sell pizza this year.  We are unable to get the funnel cake fryer from the Fire department again. We are going to try using electric skillets.
  • A list of items to be sold were discussed and agreed upon.
  • This Thursday, Aug. 13 at 5:00 parents are needed to help clean up the concession stand and prepare it for Department of Health inspection. Please bring rags and muscles.  Cheryl Huff and Nancy Beasley will be organizing this effort. Our first football game is Aug. 21 Friday. Please call Dominica Marchese @ 649-1517 (you may leave a voice message) to sign up for 1 of the 6 home games. ALL help is appreciated.
  • Discussion continued about adding choir, concert band, and jazz band to the boosters. Will double check that noticed have been sending out to the students the first week of school? Vote will be at the Aug 25 Tues. 5:00pm meeting to add the above to the bylaws.  The bylaws will have to be changed to reflect these added groups. These groups are invited to attend a welcoming meeting starting at 6:00pm to explain and encourage membership with the boosters.

Member’s at large- good idea

  • Booster Meetings have been changed to start at 5:00pm on the corresponding Tuesdays’. Ms. Green has agreed to start taking noted until the sec. arrives.  This change was made in hopes that more parents will be able to attend right after band practice.
  • Poor Man Supper will be Sat., Sept 19, starting at 3:00 – 6:30. Will be held at the Broyhill Chapel Fellowship Hall in Mars Hill. There is a sign up sheet for adult and band/choir member volunteers, just outside of Mr. Hensley’s office.
  • 2010 Marching Band Calendars are on there way.  Mr. Climo will be at the first 2 home games taking pictures of our little angels.  Nancy B. will be contacting Michael @Office Max (which is where we printed the raffle tickets), in hopes of getting another deal.
  • Election of President was held. Nominations where made for President: Becky Latham. Voting occurred: 5 yeas 0 nays Seconded by: Nancy B.
  • Election of Vice President was held. Nominations where made for Cheryl Huff. Voting occurred: 5 yeas 0 nays Seconded by: Sherry D.
  • More Raffle tickets are available. Please see Sherry and/or Becky for more tickets.  These may be purchased from any booster member, band/choir student.
  • Alterations are being made on Color Guard and Drum Majorette’s uniforms @ a cost of $40.

 

Meeting closed @ 7:00.

Next meeting will be held Aug. 25 at 5:00 for Boosters at large and 6:00 for Choir/Jazz band to be welcomed.
